Ok, so in my post 3 Money Making Methods That Will Have Me Quitting My Day job I mentioned there were three methods of making money online that had a member of a private forum making enough money in 3 months to quit his $70k per year day job.  Now as far fetched as this may seem to most, I firmly believe that with the methods he talked about it is certainly possible.  However, what I can’t account for is how much time and effort he puts into it, and with all that I do outside of the computer my time is still limited.  But this doesn’t mean that I can’t follow and use the same money making methods he has to get my monthly income levels up to a nice, stable level, preferably in the $xxxx range.

So with that, money making method #1 involves EPN, otherwise known as the eBay Publisher’s Network.  Up until about 3 months ago, eBay utilized Commission Junction to run their affiliate program.  They have since moved it in house and are running their own affiliate programs.

Now how can one earn money with EPN?  I know many of you already know that eBay makes their money buy providing an outlet for sellers and buyers to trade goods.  eBay charges sellers listing fees, final value fees, and many other fees in order to sell.  With EPN, the website publisher (affiliate) can get a percentage of the final value fee paid to eBay when a transaction is completed IF their tracking cookie is the active cookie when a eBay user places a bid on an auction and wins.  EPN also pays out a flat fee to their publishers to recruit new eBay users, and payout is made when a new user signs up places a winning bid.

Ok, so you’re saying that’s great, but how do I get people to bid on auctions that I get credit for?

Well like anything else in the affiliate marketing world, this will involve you having a website or several websites.  On the website you will have links placed to active auctions on eBay, and when a eBay user clicks the link your cookie is then placed on their computer, which is good for seven days.  If the person is not an eBay user and signs up, you get credited for this also.

Seems easy enough, right?  Well like everything else internet marketing related you will need traffic to your sites, and to truly profit you will need to list high profit items, since these will have higher final value fees and thus make you more per sale.

Now to build these websites you can use the EPN API (if you are an adept programmer) and integrate this directly into your site.  If you’re not (like me), there are two systems out there that most EPN affiliates are using;  Build A Niche Store (BANS) and PHPBay Pro.  I decided to go with PHPBay Pro strictly for it’s was of integration as a WP plugin.  I also purchased the PHPBay Pro api that I can use on non-WP sites, but I won’t get into that.

I have two test sites up and running.  One is in the online money making niche, and the other is a general site that I will use as a pure test platform for PHPBay Pro.  Internet Fortunes is pretty much completed with maybe a few more additions needed, whereas Global Dominance is still a work in progress.  Now I will start driving traffic to them, and once the traffic is coming in hopefully the money will follow.

That’s pretty much it for money making method #1.  I’ll be concentrating on this method before moving on to the next method, so stay tuned for the updates on my progress!
